Spirituality is something that everyone experiences at least a little part of, whether it be through religion, family traditions, or everyday practices. People view spirituality differently, but everyone wants to become more in tune with themselves. Sometimes, it can be hard to do this because you do not yet understand what exactly will help you reach that level of alignment.
Habits that can enhance your spirituality include yoga, meditation, gratitude journaling, meditative music, church, being positive, not complaining, not speaking badly of others, and spending time in nature.
Read on to learn more about each of these nine habits you can practice to keep peace within yourself and enhance your connection with the Universe!
Yoga
Do yoga three times a week for 30 minutes. My favorite thing to do is to attend a class, but if you don’t want to spend any money, there is an endless amount of YouTube videos online.
My go-to is Boho Beautiful, and all you need is a yoga mat (affiliate link). They have amazing yoga workouts of varying levels that they film all over the world!
Meditation
Meditate for five minutes when you wake up and five minutes before you go to sleep. When you get the hang of it, go ahead and continue to add five minutes.
To make your environment more peaceful, you can surround yourself with silence, meditative music, and/or candles.
Gratitude Journaling
Make a list of 10 things you’re grateful for in a journal (affiliate link) from each specific day. We all know the basics — food, water, family. However, try and really dig into what happened today. Did an opportunity come up? Was the weather especially beautiful? Did you share a moment with someone that you appreciated?
Think about the little things that made today better than it could have been. Acknowledging these small things wills the law of attraction in your favor because you are putting energy every day into recognizing what is good.
Meditative Music
Listen for 30 minutes when you’re doing something or going somewhere to bring down stress levels and center yourself. You can find playlists on YouTube, Spotify, etc.
Church
Attend church once a week. No matter what religion or form of spirituality you connect with, being surrounded by people who share similar beliefs can strengthen your foundation and remind you that you are not alone.
Be Positive
It’s hard to keep negativity out of your life especially when you’re surrounded by it, but staying positive can keep heaviness from weighing down on you. Be the person that looks at the glass as half full and sees the silver lining.
Don’t Complain
This is another hard one, but once you stop complaining about every little thing, it really changes your outlook on life. Not complaining about a bad situation automatically makes it better because you aren’t focusing on the negatives.
If you feel the need to complain about something, just wait a minute, and then you won’t even want to anymore. This is probably the most important part of being spiritual!
Never Say a Bad Word Against Anyone
Yes, people aren’t perfect, but they really are trying their best with what they have. You shouldn’t judge others because you truly don’t know their story and what they’re going through.
Pointing out others’ flaws combines both being negative and complaining, which are two things you are trying to avoid. If others around you are speaking against someone, try defending them to “be positive.”
Nature Time
Spend 15 minutes every day outside in nature, where it is completely quiet. This is my favorite thing to do out of the list. I believe human beings were meant to spend all their time outside, and these walls and ceilings are only blocking us from the fresh air in our lungs and the grass beneath our feet.
When you are in tune with nature, you become aligned with Mother Earth and the Universe.
Final Thoughts
There are so many more things you can do to truly center yourself and become more spiritual, but what I have listed above is what I try to practice regularly. If the list seems overwhelming, you can always just start with one and then add a new one every week.
I promise if these activities become habits, they will truly change your life. You will be happier and healthier because your stress levels are down, and more productive in other areas of your life!
